{"id":384,"date":"2020-08-27T12:48:57","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T12:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/digfut.demo-server.se\/?page_id=384"},"modified":"2024-08-22T09:11:32","modified_gmt":"2024-08-22T07:11:32","slug":"dbrain","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wpmu-tris.sys.kth.se\/digitalfutures\/research\/collaborative-projects\/completed-collaborative-projects\/dbrain\/","title":{"rendered":"Digitizing Brain Data for Health and Disease"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"WordSection1\">\n<div id=\"divtagdefaultwrapper\" class=\"\"><em>Objective<br \/>\n<\/em>The main goal of the dBrain collaborative project is to develop an interdisciplinary approach to improve early diagnosis and prognosis for brain diseases and to facilitate the development of therapies by combining computational modelling of the brain and advanced artificial intelligence (AI) based data analyses.<\/div>\n<p>The computational approaches will initially focus on Parkinson\u2019s (PD) and Alzheimer\u2019s diseases (AD), the two most common neurodegenerative diseases. These disease cases are strategically selected in collaboration with the Karolinska Hospital (KS) and Karolinska Institute (KI).<\/p>\n<p>This research is important because the incidence of brain diseases will only increase with increasing human longevity. It is estimated that by 2030, mental disorders will be the largest contributor to the total disease burden.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Digitizing Brain Data for Health and Disease (Dbrain)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JHBbziGiwnE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em><br \/>\nBackground<\/em><br \/>\nWith increased longevity, the number of patients with brain-related diseases will grow. In 2030, mental illness is estimated to be the main imposition on health care.
