It builds on the theories of <em>somaesthetics<\/em> \u2013 a combination of <em>soma<\/em>\u2014our subjective self, body, emotion, and thinking\u2014and <em>aesthetics<\/em>\u2014our perceptual appreciation of the world. Through engaging with and deepening your capacity to discern sensuous experiences, you can examine and improve on connections between sensation, feeling, emotion, and subjective understanding and values. Soma design is a path to imagine \u2013 through your senses, movements and material encounters \u2013 what <em>could be<\/em> during a design process. A soma design process thrives off the aesthetic potential of the sociodigital materials and the creative process of shaping these into dynamic gestalts, orchestrated experiences.<\/p>\n<p><em>Here, H\u00f6\u00f6k is exploring two strands of work:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>First, <em>digital touch<\/em>: exploring the aesthetic potential of\u00a0bodyworn digital\/physical materials to evoke and feel touch. It is an\u00a0interdisciplinary project combining\u00a0competencies: in body-worn soft and compliant sensor nodes; high-pressure\u00a0microfluidics and miniaturized\u00a0actuators; and their materials science;\u00a0backscatter sensor-actuator network technology; and interaction design\u00a0addressing touch through intimate\u00a0correspondence relationships\u00a0through soma design.<\/p>\n<p>Second, <em>ethics<\/em>: the goal is to contribute new knowledge to the field of design in the form of\u00a0an analytical, practical\u00a0and pragmatic framework to grasp the ethicality of\u00a0emerging, complex, felt, bodily practices that shape our corporealities and\u00a0through which\u00a0ethics are enacted \u2013 manifested and cultivated through our moving\u00a0bodies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Soma Design<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":46,"featured_media":0,"parent":6563,"menu_order":233,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-6615","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Kristina H\u00f6\u00f6k &#8212;
