{"id":114,"date":"2020-03-05T14:37:09","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T13:37:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebadgeproject.eu\/?page_id=114"},"modified":"2022-09-02T17:41:54","modified_gmt":"2022-09-02T16:41:54","slug":"io2-sustainable-writing-skills-for-engineers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wpmu-tris.sys.kth.se\/thebadgeproject\/io2-sustainable-writing-skills-for-engineers\/","title":{"rendered":"IO2: Sustainable writing skills for engineers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Resources<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"\/\/liquidmomo.wixsite.com\/website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"399\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/09\/IO2-home-1024x399.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-642\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/09\/IO2-home-1024x399.jpg 1024w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/09\/IO2-home-300x117.jpg 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/09\/IO2-home-768x300.jpg 768w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/09\/IO2-home-228x89.jpg 228w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/09\/IO2-home.jpg 1359w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/liquidmomo.wixsite.com\/website\">https:\/\/liquidmomo.wixsite.com\/website<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Partners:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hochschule Harz, Germany & The National Technical University of Athens, Greece<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Goal:<\/strong> This part of the BADGE project aims at developing sustainable writing skills in two directions: firstly, academic writing skills that will prepare students for writing their final-year thesis and, secondly, professional writing skills that will help students to be better equipped for the demands of 21st century workplace writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>We intend this IO to:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Foster European citizenship by student\ncollaboration on projects that will focus on comparing the Code of Ethics of\nEuropean national Technological Chambers. <\/li><li>Promote ethical reasoning by also exposing student\nteams from different countries to ethical concerns that arise when changes in\ntechnology make uncertain the application of existing codes of ethics. <\/li><li>Enhance critical thinking by understanding audience\nneeds and genre conventions through genre conversion tasks, that is, converting\n(parts of) a research article to a popular science article, changing a popular\nscience article to a research abstract or converting a lab report to a research\nabstract. <\/li><li>Produce Creative Commons material for use by\nlanguage instructors at engineering and\/or technical departments. <\/li><li>Produce adaptable and transferable modules that\nlanguage instructors can modify according to the needs and requirements of\ntheir curricula. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Target groups<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students\nin HEI, who need to develop their academic writing skills in order to cope with\nthe demands of their curricula. <\/li><li>Final-year students who are working on their\nfinal-year thesis. <\/li><li>ESP instructors in engineering\/technical\ndepartments. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Intellectual Output Description\n<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A: curriculum for a 30 hours course, detailed description\nof course, its modules and timing, targeted student group, sequences of\nlearning experiences, learning outcomes, evaluation methods and assessment\ncriteria. <\/li><li>B: teaching materials for both face-to-face classes\nand online tasks planned in A, developed in modular form to increase their\nadaptability and transferability potential. <\/li><li>C: teachers\u2019 resources\/manual\ncontaining three parts: introduction with general teaching tips, detailed\nlesson plans, answer keys and ideas for assessment and evaluation. <\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Resources https:\/\/liquidmomo.wixsite.com\/website Partners: Hochschule Harz, Germany &#038;
